Most fine scratches come from washing the wrong way. This method keeps your paint glossy.
The swirl marks you see in sunlight usually come from washing, not from the road. Follow these steps to wash your car safely.
- Start with the wheels and tyres, using a dedicated brush
- Rinse the car well to remove dust before touching it
- Use two buckets: one for soap, one to rinse the mitt
- Wash from top to bottom in straight lines
- Dry with a large, clean microfibre towel
Common mistakes
- Using dish soap
- Washing in direct sun
- Automatic car-wash brushes
If swirl marks are already there, a professional polish brings the clarity back.
